PICOCAP Capacitive Sensing

PICOCAP is a Capacitance-to-Digital Converter (CDC) which uses the patented PICOCAP measuring principle to interface to a broad range of capacitive sensors. The input capacitance can range between a femtoFarad and hundreds of nanoFarads, which means that there is almost no limit to the size of capacitor. The multi-channel CDC provides a high degree of flexibility with respect to accuracy, speed and operating current. A powerful integrated CPU enables on-chip linearization and temperature measurement and compensation.

PCap02

Low power capacitance-to-digital converter with wide input range (from fF to nF) and versatile configuration options. PCap02 can be configured for highest sampling rates up to 500kHz, lowest current consumption down to 2µA or lowest noise of 15 aF (rms). The internal signal processor allows for power-efficient and fast calculations, e.g. for sensor linearization or complex arithmetics.

PCap04

PCap04 is a capacitance-to-digital converter (CDC) with integrated digital signal processor (DSP) for on-chip data post-processing. Its front end is based on ams PICOCAP principle. This conversion principle offers outstanding flexibility with respect to power consumption, resolution and speed. Further, PCap04 covers a wide capacitance input range from a few femtofarads up to several hundreds of nanofarads. It is easy to configure the PCap04 for different capacitance measurement tasks, i.e. single as well as differential sensors in both, grounded or floating connection. The on-chip DSP allows to implement sensor algorithms like linearization and temperature compensation, with data output in a digital (SPI or IIC) or analog (PDM/PWM) way.

Signal Converters

ams signal converters contain four or eight signal channels, and can be dynamically programmed in-process by means of multiple amplification levels. This makes them very well suited for multi-channel sensor systems in applications with dynamic amplification and a high sensor bandwidth. All the converters small: they are available in space-saving (Q)SOP packages or as Chip-on-Board(COB) packages.

AS89000

The AS89000-devices are a family of integrated circuits of programmable gain transimpedance amplifiers with 4 channels per IC (more custom specific, on request). The AS89000-devices are mainly used for signal conditioning of sensors with current outputs. They are especially suitable for connection of photodiodes of array and row sensors. The possibility to adjust the transimpedance in 8 stages is a special feature. The adjustment is made by programming three pins and is valid for all channels together. The device packages (naked chip on request) are RoHS conform and optimized for COB- mounting and SMD.

AS89010

The AS89010 processes via charge-balance method and converts lowest photo-currents at high accuracy. Its full-scale range can be customized to specific applications. Sensitivity of 20 fA/LSB at a dynamic of 1 to 1,000,000. The IC is temperature compensated and features the possibility of external synchronization.

AS89020

The AS89020 is a 12-bit, 4 channel, current input Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC). It combines current-to-voltage (TIA) and analog-to-digital (AD) conversion, so that 4 separate current output devices (e.g. photodiodes) can be directly connected to its inputs and digitized. For each of the 4 inputs the AS89020 provides an input amplifier with a track and hold circuit. The outputs of the track and hold stages are serial converted to 12-bit digital words using an analog-to-digital converter (ADC).

PS081

The PSØ81 is a system on chip for ultra low power and high resolution applications. It was designed especially for weight scales but fits also to any kind of force or torque measurements based on metal strain gauges. It takes full advantage of the digital measuring principle of PICOSTRAIN. Thus, it combines the performance of a 28-bit signal converter with a 24-bit microprocessor. Additional elements like an LCD driver, 3K ROM with many complex pre-defined functions, 2k EEPROM program memory and an integrated 10kHz oscillator round off the device. A small amount of external components is sufficient to build a complete weighing electronic.

AS8510

The AS8510 data acquisition front-end IC is a virtually offset free, low noise, 2-channel measurement device. It is tailored to accurately measure battery current from mA range up to kA range in combination with a 100 µOhm shunt resistor connected in series with the battery rail. Through the second measurement channel it enables capture of either battery voltage synchronous with the current or to measure the analog output of an internal or external temperature sensor.
